Elvehjem Book Club

Our neighborhood book club has been reading together since December 2014. Each month we choose a book to read and get together to discuss it over refreshments. The group takes turns choosing books; previous titles include “Change of Heart,” “And the Mountains Echoed,” “Freedom,” “Cooked,” “Unbroken,” “Life after Life,” and “Driftless.” If you enjoy reading and would like to meet some of your friendly neighbors we invite you to join us. Elvehjem Area Good Neighbor Project

The Good Neighbor Project (GNP) is the Madison Police Department's Community Safety Program in cooperation with organized neighborhoods. The Elvehjem Area GNP has no physical boundaries and generally includes: Elvehjem, East Buckeye, Rolling Meadows, Heritage Heights, NorthStar, Richmond Hill, Sprecher East, Eastmorland, Lake Edge, and Glendale. "When we take the time to get to know our neighbors, we feel a stronger sense of community. It's comforting to know we have neighbors who are looking out for us and will help us. The police officers who live and work in our neighborhoods also care about our safety and well-being. When we get to know our neighborhood officers and work together with them to solve problems, we create an even larger social support network where everyone feels surrounded by people who care.” Visit our group on Facebook to get in touch.

Blankets for Critters

We are an all-volunteer group located in Madison, WI who make and donate blankets to care for homeless animals awaiting adoption. While these animals await adoption, the blankets provide a comfortable bed year-round. After they are adopted, their blanket goes with them, providing something familiar as they adjust to their forever family.

There are several members from Elvehjem that meet with this group. Visit our group on Facebook to get in touch.
