Earth Day 2026
Saturday, April 25th
10am-12pm @ Elvehjem and Acewood Parks
Join your neighbors for Madison Parks’ annual Earth Day Challenge. It’s a citywide volunteer effort to clean up parks across Madison, and this year we are excited that Elvehjem Park and Acewood Park are officially on the list.
Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026
Time: 10:00am to 12:00pm
Where: Choose your park. We’re encouraging Elvehjem neighbors to focus on: Elvehjem Park or Acewood Park which are officially a part of the City’s Earth Day Challenge.
What we’ll do
Madison Parks coordinates supplies and support for a range of light park projects like trash pickup, raking, trail clearing, and invasive plant removal.
Supplies
Madison Parks supplies gloves, garbage bags, and rakes (rakes per site are based on how many volunteers register).
On April 25, look for the Earth Day Challenge sign at your chosen park to find supplies. Parks staff will not be onsite at every location.
🚨 Registration: https://www.cityofmadison.com/parks/volunteer/programs/earth-day-challenge
All ages are welcome, and advanced registration is required for anyone age 14 or older.
A quick note on why registration matters: Madison Parks uses participation to decide which sites they can support in future years. If online signups are very low (generally under five volunteers), a site may be removed in future years due to limited staff capacity for supply drop offs and pickups.
Can’t make it that morning? Do your own mini cleanup on a walk in April and send us a photo of your collected trash. We’ll give you a shout out in the Echo or Extra.
